Jamie,,, The blueish one is a local stone here called Black Kanawha,, thats a better grade than what we normally find............I love the Western Basalt, makes killer Clovis points.

Great looking stuff. Those Clovises (Clovi?) look to be direct percussion fluted like they're supposed to be, too.

Yes,, all of them except the obsidian blade were percussion worked,, the obsidian blade is all pressure flaking

That's some very nice work Robert. Obviously you've been doin this awhile :). I've tried fluting those clovis points several time's - Snap! kinda got me gun shy.

Man - you inspired me to try fluting again ;D. Got one worked out after work today - didn't quite get my ridgeline running straight and the flute went off to one side, but it was a pretty flute :D. Closest thing to a Clovis so far.

deerhunter: Percussion knapping is where you take a percussor such as - antler, stone,copper, etc for the heavier work. You prepare a solid platform by abrading and and hit it with your tool of choice - the force of the percussion pushes the flake off. Their are plenty of sites on flintknapping/ with pictures on the internet, hope that answered your question :).
