After thinking about making another one with a little longer draw I took this one back to the garage last night and played with the tiller.  AS you can see in the pic I am past my draw and now am happy with it and still at high end of weight range. Going to take it shooting with Greg (badly bent) next week hopefully and then ship her out.

Looks good Paul.

I did a search on mailing bows and see that most suggest usps in a pvc tube. My bow has recurves on the end. Any suggestions on how to mail?

Bob I took two arrow boxes and made one long box. Its the only way I could ship a static recurve without mailing 4" PVC, which I wont pay for!

Well, I finally found some time to start my trade bow. For my recipient I decided to make a vine maple longbow – a style that is becoming a Pacific Northwest classic.

I started with a couple of vine maple billets that have been sitting in my wood bin since 2006. They still had the bark on but they were such nice billets that I decided it was worth the trouble scrapping it off (if you let the bark dry on vine maple it is a pain to get off)



I normally use a parallel limb design with vine maple, but I’m making the the bow longer than usual and will give the limbs a more pyramid profile.



Here are the limbs rough cut to width.



I then roughed out the limb thickness with my bandsaw.



Tomorrow I’m helping Weylin fit a take-down sleeve, but I’m hoping I can get these guys spliced and glued up before he gets here.

Gordon your right on, we seem to have a regional style over here that spreads like wildfire.
Those look like some sweet VM billets. I have some billets I would like you input on.

These bows are looking really awesome guys! Keep it up!
