Well,  Dave (aka woodbenderDW) got a couple of real nice shooters form Steve B. of Oregon the other day! Steve contacted me a while ago to get some dirt on Dave, and from there ,we hatched a plan. Steve sent the stuff to me so we could be sure to get the big moment captured for posterity . I'll let Dave give his take on the whole thing, but I promised Steve that I would get some pics up ASAP.I think we had him completely baffled ;D. Complete shock when he realised there were 2 bows.  Followed by lots of admiration (and I think possibly a little drooling)  I've not seen him shoot better!

Sorry ,Steve. I didn't mention the stave  he sent as well. I was hoping Dave would chime in  with the whole story from his perspective. I'm just a small player in this puzzle and don't want to take anything away from Dave. He said he would write it up proper. My job was the surprise and pics.(middle man if you will.)

I wasn't worried that it wasn't mentioned, just that it was stolen before it got to you.  Whew.  I'm happy now.  Hope it all works out for Dave.

Haha! That was all part of the deception, Steve. I've been telling Dave that I had a line on some Osage for quite some time now. I got to the club early and had the box sitting on the table. I told him it was the Osage we've been waiting for and to go ahead and open it up.  When he opened the box ,he looked a little bewildered so I said," oh yeah , your trade bow is in there too" >:D. Then the damn camera started acting up so  I made him wait  'till I got it straightened out before he could open it.

Man there have been some great looking bows in this years trade.  I"m glad I got mine out early so I dont have to worry about meeting deadlines.  I just get to keep watching all these beauties go out and hope one hits me door.

Looks like Christmas morning! 2 sweet bows and a stave...that's what I call a trade! Good on you, Steve, and congrats, Dave!!

Thanks everyone.  My research on WBDW was he liked osage and really wanted to make an osage bow.  My osage bow to him was a little funky with the interrupted rawhide backing and red color and then when it came in underweight I thought he might be totally disappointed.  Hence the hickory bow--a little heavier and more traditional.  I've never had a bow break and that has always haunted me a little and I've never made a bow for someone else other than two kids bows.   If either one of these bows broke I would feel terrible and, a failure really, so I sent the stave knowing that's a guaranteed happy recipient.

Nice work Steve.

Dude, if you've never had a bow break, you need to go break a couple and get it out of your system.
