Some really nice bows being made!  DannyF, I can't recommend a bendy handle with a cut in shelf.  I know its been done, but it is asking for trouble in my opinion.  I agree with the powerlam on the back, but I would also tooth the glue joint on the handle and belly.  I use a  18 tpi  saws all blade that I have filed lightly to give the teeth an even triangular shape.   You have to tooth both mating surfaces very straight so they will mesh up.  I use an old piece of angle iron to clamp the pieces to and the upright edge of the angle serves as a straight edge guide for the toothing blade. If done right, this toothed glue line is much, much stronger.  Just my .02.  Josh

I shot another 100 arrows through her today.  I'm calling her tillered.  She's 53" n3n, 54# @ 26. Quite smooth on the draw.  Shoot very well.  Now, I just need to put her prom dress on her.

 :) Thanks Pearly.  Sorry about the red circle, I've taken more pics of this bow during the tiller process than the last 10 bows combine.  She's by far the shortest bow I've made to date.  So, I used all the tools at my disposal.

So just for you  ;)

Glad it got there in one piece and really glad you like it.  I left it kinda shiny as it didn't sound as though you would hunt with it.  If that changes you can cut the glare on her.  Looks like that ladies perm got all messed up on the ride to Florida.  :)

Congrats on the plains bow duck, that is a beauty.

Hedgeapple, that is a beautiful tiller!

Danny F, i agree with Bubby. Add a powerlam between the handle and limbs that extends out a few inches past the handle and it should be fine. If it were me I would use 2 layers an 1/8" thick each and extend one layer 2 inches out on each end and the next layer 4 inches out and then blend it back in. I wouldnt trust a bendy handle with a shelf cut in and I dont think a strip glued on the back will hold up to the strain, it would probably pop off eventually.
