Some really nice bows being made!  DannyF, I can't recommend a bendy handle with a cut in shelf.  I know its been done, but it is asking for trouble in my opinion.  I agree with the powerlam on the back, but I would also tooth the glue joint on the handle and belly.  I use a  18 tpi  saws all blade that I have filed lightly to give the teeth an even triangular shape.   You have to tooth both mating surfaces very straight so they will mesh up.  I use an old piece of angle iron to clamp the pieces to and the upright edge of the angle serves as a straight edge guide for the toothing blade. If done right, this toothed glue line is much, much stronger.  Just my .02.  Josh
