Got her all ready for the first coat of finish today. Checked weight after final sanding and found im still about 3 pounds over my victims max. Trying to decide if i should lighten it up or leave as is. My victim has posted personal bows that are heavier than im at right now, but i dont know if there is a reason why he wants a lighter one. What would you,all do?

Turtle,  If you have my name send it as is.  A few pounds shouldn't be a problem.   I had the opposite problem I was on the low end of my victim.  Got quite a few coats of tru oil on mine, a leather grip and some art work today.  Still shooting 50# @ 28"

Mine will be going out early next week. It's done, I'm just letting the finish cure a bit.

A few pounds heavy is not a Problem in my book...
Send it on down...

I'm in the same boat, I'm a few pounds heavy, just ask my wife...

Got the skin picked out for my trade bow, Eastern Coachwip.
Have 150+ arrows through her, I'm calling her a Bow.

Now for the Finish...

Its a world wide bow swap. You toss your name in a hat and somebody builds you a bow. You also get assigned a bow to build, not necessarily the same person that is building yours. Its all secret until/if it arrives on your porch.

We HOPE everybody gets a custom bow anyhow. Every year some folks don't fulfill their obligations. Very few are serious set backs, most are just dead beats with no respect for this site or the people using it.

Wow! I can see how that could be wide open to abuse. That is very generous of those that make bows, not knowing if you'll get a nice bow, a garden stake or nothing in return. My hat is off to you!
