Bamboo Backed Jatoba Bow
« on: March 12, 2013, 06:38:03 am »
I made this bow for one of my brothers friends. He just wanted a simple basic easy to shoot long bow so I went pretty straight forward on this one. It's 66" ntn 1 1/4" wide at the fades down to 1/4 tips. Overlays are ebony and the handle is black walnut, gambels oak and more jatoba. 45# @ 28". This was the first time I've used jatoba and I was impressed it took almost no set even being as narrow as it was. Im not quite happy with the tiller though I tried to give the tips a very slight reflex when I glued it up. The reflex worked better on the top then the bottom for some reason. If you look hard you can still see a little in the top limb.

Very nice stick. in the full draw picture, that trail on the far hill looks like a big ass broad head on the arrow:)

Is that a fret patch in the upper fade?

I'm not sure I see what you're talking about pearl drums. But there are no patches in it. The pictures are kind of bad the sun was way too bright since it was around noon.

It looks like a lighter rectangular section of wood right off the upper fade, probably just a shadow.
