1st horn bow

This was my first attempt at the gemsbok horn bow, 50lbs at 28
Mahogany and Zebrawood riser.

I used a 5" inflatable drum sander on my grinder to evenly taper it. It started at about 95lbs

I want to see that thing drawn!  I thought those were oryx horns.  I didn't recognize the name you called it, "gemsbok."  I guess that's Afrikaans?

Pretty cool looking bow. You do realize you are required to post a full draw pic at least if not more.  ;)   How does she shoot?

Interesting. I remember years back a guy was building these and filling them with bowgrip epoxy.

Thanks! I'm currently post op from a shoulder repair otherwise I would love to get a pic of full draw. Before the surgery I was able to fix the top limb which was stacking, after that my shelf was a little shallow deflecting the arrow to the left. So deepened the shelf to center and she shot perfect for me at 20yds. Now I just get to look at it :(

Sorry to hear about your shoulder.  That blows! build a cool bow like that and cant shoot it! The misery >:D

Yep, I won't even be able to fly fish for about 4 months. Ill use this time to do some researching and planning for future projects

That's a unique bow. Beautiful and very primitive looking.

Can you please get a buddy to draw it to full draw and post a pic?

Thank's, I'm pretty new to the Bowyer trade and this was a good experience with some good trial and error lessons. I mostly carve bone, wood and jade and blade-smith. I'm hoping once I recover I can incorporate my carving ability and inlay work into a Bow.
