Little Ocean Spray bow
« on: October 20, 2013, 07:18:07 pm »
I had gotten this bow braced a few months ago and then let it sit in the corner. Recently I retillered it a bit and took the weight down. This bow makes me even more impressed with OS because there's a huge check in the back of the bow on the bottom fade. Shoots very well although it stacks a little. Sorry guys but Ocean Spray is the king, at least in my book  ;)

No heat treatment
Did take some set but not too bad.

Awesome.  How wide is it?  How dry is it?

Thanks for the kind words everyone! Steve the fades are about 1 1/2" wide and the wood was seasoned for pretty close to a year. However it was dried in roughed out form for almost the whole time. it got the big check after i took the bark off but seemed to dry faster than ones i keep whole. Here's a link to the drying set up i had: http://www.primitivearcher.com/smf/index.php/topic,35162.msg463040.html#msg463040

Sweet bow man.  Way to get that much weight out of her.  Dig in the arrow too.   :)

Sweet bend in that stout stick of OS.  I love that you just left that huge check in there without repair.  Looks great and is testimony to the toughness of that wood!

When you wrote huge check, I still wasnt prepared for one like that. Looks cool, and as said before, great bend.
