Nice video!  Can't imagine how UK drivers would react with "deadly weapons" that close to a road.  Looking straight down the barrel of a lawsuit I reckon!!  You're damn lucky over there.

That backed yew bow is stunning!

adb:
You know, where we were shooting was only about 6 blocks from my home. I'm pretty sure we were still inside the city limits. A few people driving past would honk and wave. No problem here. We're doing no harm, putting no one at risk, and causing no damage. Yes, I suppose we are lucky.

As far as the backed yew bow goes... I've made 3. The one in the vid is mine, 90#@30". I sold another which is 92#@30", and another 120#@32". All from the same piece of yew. All maple backed, similarly dimensioned.

WillS:
I know you're not a big fan of bamboo backings, but how do you think the maple backing compares to boo, on a yew belly?

As a side note, I was shooting with Joe Gibbs of the EWBS the other day, and he believes Elm makes the best backing for a laminated warbow - something I've not heard before.  He says the usual hickory backings are poor when draw weights reach 100# or so compared to Elm.  He had a stunning Lemonwood, Purpleheart and Elm 103# bow that I had a go with and it was the smoothest, quietest warbow I've ever shot.  Absolutely breathtaking.
