My favorite so far (caul pics pg 5)
« on: January 12, 2014, 04:41:39 pm »
Just wrapped up another. The handle and tips are laminated mesquite and hickory, both heartwood and sapwood. The bow is osage that my buddy Clint gave me. Its a stave from his Monster osage tree he posted a few years back that yielded 100 plus staves. Fantastic wood Clint! Finished with 6 or 7 coats of Tung oil, I lost track... 8). The string is an 8 strand D97. Its 66" ntn and 48# @ 28". The lower limb is 1" shorter and the shelf is cut just off center and 2" above the center of my 4" handle. Each fade is 3" long. Its an absolute joy to shoot. Ive shot as many arrows through this bow as any in a good while. It hasn't lost any reflex and that profile you see against my garage wall is right after unbracing, it never changes. Its my best effort yet as far as lack of set. It took virtually none. Thanks for looking.

I just love it when they hold the profile you start with, you know they are fast. Have you got a place you can shoot a 500 grain arrow to see how far it will go? Good job!!
