Not sure what that is. I've heard of a fishtail gouge but not of a beaver tail wood chisel.

Help us out with an explanation!

Try searching for a gouge chisel.  I think I saw you and JW using one at the classic.  Is that what you are looking for?

For those that didn't see it, it has a rounded cutting edge and slightly curved/spooned.  Imagine a beaver tail that is slightly cupped.  They are great for chasing growth rings around a pin knot and they really show off when you have a concave spot on a stave where you are chasing a growth ring.  Keep it razor sharp and it will follow that early growth like it's on rails!  Will try to take pics and post them here.

I will also check the hobby store where I got mine, Max.  Will let you know what I find.
