something different
« on: August 13, 2014, 08:55:28 am »
I made a basket for my cousin with an antler off one of the deer he shot. he had left some skull on the end so I made a little buffalo skull out off it.This is my first attempt at bone carving so it was a learning experience for sure. The hardest part was making those tiny horns. All in all I think it turned out OK and I might try carving again.

Wow, that is awesome.  Most people don't appreciate the amount of work that goes into a piece like that because it is "just a basket" and you can get them cheap from overseas.  That was a lot of work and you did a fantastic job on it.

Bob ,this a Mississippian culture spider, there were many spiders used in Indian lore. this one is supposed to be a water spider that brought fire to the people. The legs should have gone straight out but it was hard to do on a round disc so I brought them in.

Awesome.

Nice piece of work, BP!  I spun up a few crude little baskets way back in time, so I have an idea what goes into making something like this.  Good work, sir!

I would love to see you skipping through the meadow with it, Rog.
LOL That is a really cool combination of elements.
The carving is ingenious. Wish you could bring it to the Ridge.
