Can you get Unibond? Made by Nelson Paint Co. (US)  If not try Weldwood Plastic Resin. It is a urea glue like Unibond(Urac185 was the original) in powder form and all you do is add water to mix. I learned about Weldwood Plastic Resin from a guy from Italy and it worked well for me.

I can't get unibond but I can get weldwood.

Does it need air to cure? Or does it cure like an epoxy?

It's a chemical reaction like Urac or Unibond. It cures at room temp(approx. 70 deg (F)) but cures faster at higher temps. I haven't used it in a few years so I don't remember the specifics about it.  It is relatively inexpensive here. Maybe do a test with it first before you trust it to a bow but I glued hickory and boo backings on different woods and riser blocks and never had a glue failure.

You can also get 'Cascamite" there. Pretty sure it's more or less the same thing as Weldwood.

Resorcinol, Cascamite, Resintite or a bog standard 2 part epoxy all work for gluing up bows.  I didn't believe the 2 part epoxy would work, but somebody I shoot with makes heavy laminated warbows using epoxy with no failures yet.

Thanks for the replies.

Any brands of epoxy that could be recommended? Again, that I can get in the UK.

You can get Araldite and WEST G-Flex from Axminster. They also have the equivalent of Urac and Resorcinol.
You have many choices and some would say the last two are better than Epoxy.

Bloke I shoot with in the UK swears by Araldite 2 part epoxy, the stuff in the tubes.  One set of tubes does one lamination, so you'd need two packs for a tri lam.

i began using weldwood when URAC went under a few years ago at Pat Bs suggestion and I have been happy.  I have had no major issues with it, and it was quite inexpensive compared to the others.  I only use it though when working w Bamboo.  Wood to wood I still use TBIII.

Humbrol Extraphen (resourcinol) for me.  Super tough 2-pack adhesive.  Sticks any wood to any other, including oily exotics, in my experience.

I use Resintite.
I have also used a 2hour epoxy. Araldite is ridiculously expensive.

That's true.  I would imagine any 2 part epoxy is the same as Araldite.  You can get those good 151 ones in most shops.

They differ hugely in properties, I got the 2 hour one from a model supplies place, can't remember the name, but they had loads of good stuff at reasonable prices in sensible quantities.

Wow, there really is a whole world of glue out there!
Thank you for all the replies, it's been most helpful!
Just to clarify can I completely wrap a glue up, if using one of the urac style urea formaldehyde powdered glues?  Or does it need air to cure?
