Camper Van (Video Added)
« on: February 02, 2015, 03:44:45 pm »
As I watch people around me getting old and tied down and realizing that I myself am only moments away from that same fate I have decided to go on a trip of a life time!  I've been saving money like a miser for years and I've decided it's time to take a couple months off and just go.  So I bought an old 86 toyota van and I'm currently outfitting it to become the most awesome camper van the world has ever seen!  Of course I will also be videoing everything I do to the van and I will be videoing the entire trip.  I plan to stop at the classic then head east and explore Appalachia then head West to SD to meet up with JW.  After that I'm not really sure what I'll do.  Might go up to Canada and head west to Oregon and loop back to Florida through the SW.  These plans aren't set in stone since I'm not really sure how far the van will go before I need to work on it.  It's only got 82k on it so I have faith in it.

Anyway, here are the first two videos I've got with the van.  Let me know what y'all think and I'm interested in any ideas y'all have.

Here's a blog post about it for more details:  http://primitivetim.blogspot.com/2015/02/i-must-be-trippin.html

Florida to Kwajalein to Turkey and back in Florida again.  Good to be home but man was that an adventure!

Sounds like fun. Just don't go to Alaska and try to live in an old bus. ;)

Maybe you could swing by Meeteetse on your way thru Yellowstone after you get your enjoyment of the quickest wit in the West " JW"!  Am headed out myself tomorrow to Vegas to the SCI convention to try to plan a jet boat trip on some of the Northern Yukon Territories rivers.  Lots of fun places to see here in this part of Wyoming!  Good luck with the remodel job! OMG.  I would buy just about any runnable Toyota with just 82K miles on it for $800.  My '98 Tacoma has 234,000 miles and needs about $1000 worth of TLC and I would not dream of selling it for $800.

Have fun on your trip.  Looking forward to videos and seeing you at the Classic.

Cool idea Tim - You'll never regret it. A lot of People have said later in Life, "Man I wish I'd.....). Bob

Sounds like something you would do, ;) :) and from my experience with Toyota's that one is just getting broke in, I have had 3 since 77 and never got less that 300,000 miles out of them before any major repairs were needed. :) :)
