new maple bow, kind of a bobcat theme
« on: January 21, 2008, 07:42:59 pm »
after finishing this bow i decided that it need something different, it was very nice looking but in a plain  sorta way so i dreesd it up a bit, maybe i got a little carried away but who knows.   so here it is- brand new of the showroom floor ;D

its 61 inches, from a sugar maple stave.  just about 55# at 26inches.
it took a little bit of set but not too much, i think its an exceptable amount.
shoots pretty quick, considerably faster than i anticipated. certainly enough to take a deer wth. its real comfortable in the hand, well balanced and light to carry.  i went with the side stitched grip for just a little individuality, i like it, happy i made the decision. its got a baseball style stitch, the picture doesnt show it well without throwing it outa focus.

the tips are osage overlays and less than a half inch wide. just enough overlay to protect the string grooves, nice and light. probably why it shoots as quick as it does.

well thanks for looking, feel free to tell me if you do or dont like the extras- Ryan

Looks pretty good.  It does look like you have a stiff area in the middle of the right limb.  Justin

Not bad at all at 61" and 55# i think ya did good, I agree with Justin though looks like a stiff spot on that right limb.
Whats the width of limbs?

That is a cool looking bow man! kinda resembles Hic with the cambium still partially on. Glad it shoots well for ya :).

Sweet loking bow. I like that side stich, it's different. How's it feel in the hand.

Very nice looking bow, Ryan. You did a great job dressing it up.
With a fine osage selfbow, my elkhide quiver filled with cedar arrows fletched with turkey, and with the invitation of the forest, I am about as happy as a man can be.

Nice bow Ryan. I like the cambium on the back like that, gives it some nice natural camo.
