A Set of Primitive Style Arrows

My last dozen arrows are dwindling and I decided it was time to make a new set. I had 14 douglas fir Surewood shafts that I got from Carson and a bag of turkey feathers that I got from Bryce so made a weekend project out of it. I used natural turkey feathers stripped from the quill, elk sinew, hide glue and carved some self nocks. I followed Carson's method from Echo Archery for fletching primitive arrows. I've done it once before so I had to remember all the details. He has a good Youtube video demonstrating it. The stain is leather dye with some acrylic paint. I finished them with a coat of titebond III covered by a coat of tru-oil. I also made two flu-flus. I can't wait to shoot them. Maybe the weather will let me get out tomorrow.

Wow!  I really like those.  I need to replenish my arrows too...

Question:  Do you use a pretty high brace height?  Some of those look like the fletching is pretty far forward; when I have done arrows that way, they hit the bow and bug me.  On the other hand, I have also made some with the fletching too far back toward the nock that bugged me more.

Thanks guys, glad you like them. Timbo, I had that issue with the last ones I made. This time I was careful to match the length of the feathers and the placement on the shaft to a traditional arrow. The feathers are exactly 5 inches and they come down as far as a "normal" arrow. We'll see what happens when I shoot them today but I think they'll be ok.
