Picked myself up a lathe at a garage sale this past weekend. It isn't the best one in the world, but I'm excited to do some turning. Any one else do some turning around here?

I really enjoy turning. Aint made nothin real fancy tho. I have made a few bow fishing reels and they work well.... Brian

I have a little hobby lathe, lots of fun to use.

One can never have too many osage file handles.

For the ferrule, you can buy a 1/2" copper coupler at Lowe's for 35 cents, cut it in half and you have two ferrules for very little cost.

Lathes are alotta fun.. Got a old one from my Dad.. Mostly made file handles and knobs for my bench ramrods.. Keep your tools sharp..

Here are some of the stuff that I've been turning since I got my lathe back at the beginning of May.

I posted this the other day- its a tap handle for my father-in-law's kegerator. Birdseye maple.

The next two are a cherry box I made a bit ago- I ended up blowing through the bottom when I was parting it off due to inadequate skill in measurement. I just didn't take pictures of that little snafu.

This is a walnut burl bowl I made yesterday after work and finished up this morning before I went in. This is going to be my dad's birthday present this year. I also used it to practice fancy lighting methods...

My lathe is my friend! Started making myrtle wood bowls when teaching school in Oregon. Let me learn about making flutes, rolling pins, handles, and a dozen other projects. Now I use it to help polish any small wood projects with a buffing wheel and various polishing compounds. If you need some domestic help with your better half, just make some measuring cups for the kitchen. Joe

That Osage tap. looks like it could be used to tap some sense into someone who thought you to be an easy mark. I have been wanting a lathe for some time. Maybe next year. Nice work, I like the little box. Used to get fishing hooks, and sinkers, in little wooden tubes, with a fitted wooden cap, when I was a kid.
