Osage Selfbow With Sapwood and Snake
« on: May 17, 2015, 11:42:45 am »
I finally got this one finished! You ever come across that piece that just won't cooperate? I bet I heated this one ten times and still don't quite have it just right but it's time to move on. It has a draw length of thirty one inches and pulls fifty five pounds at that length. It was difficult to shoot it in because I'm not used to pulling past my head with my twenty six inch draw!  The snake skin wasn't long enough to do the whole bow so I cut it in half and used silk thread and glue to hold down the ends. The handle wrap is the second piece of leather because I didn't like my stitching on the first one so I pulled it off and just wrapped it. No stitching needed. This bow is also the lo gest bow I have ever made at sixty eight inches from knock to knock. Thanks for looking.

Very nice Dave! The full draw looks spot on to me too! Patrick
