Obsidian for stave?
« on: June 16, 2015, 03:27:01 pm »
I've got a camping trip scheduled in the last weekend of August down near the mono-lake area. I plan on loading up with anywhere from 20-50 pounds of obsidian while I'm there.

Now, I'm located in Northern NV and don't generally have access to good bow wood unless it's in board form. I'd love to do a trade for some amount of obsidian for a decent Osage, dogwood, ironwood, or other "premium" bow wood to try my hand at building from a real stave.  I've done six bows from boards, half of them chased a ring and basically transformed the board to a thin stave, but I'm getting that urge to work a stave.

Let me know if there is any interest :D
Lord, grant me the courage to attempt this bow build.
The strength to pull it to full draw.
And the wisdom to listen to the wood.
