black locust bendy
« on: July 19, 2015, 06:10:33 pm »
I've had this piece of locust for a few years, and now that my stave press is built i decided to start on it, here's how it looked after reducing it to bow dimensions

Here's the full draw it's 62"ttt an 1-3/8" wide more or less then tapers the last foot or so to 3/8" tips, rubbed it down with some dark walnut stain and rattle can finish there is some sketchy knottage in the top limb

Nice looking black locust bubby.  I enjoyed the before and after pics too.  What was the draw weight on it?  I love a simple bendy handle hunting bow.  That one ought to get the job done.

That's a fine looking bendy locust.  Congrats on coaxing a good one out of that stave.

That finished out real nice Bub, looks like it was a tricky stave to work into a bow. When I get staves like that I usually put 'em in a box and ship 'em as far away as possible and look for something straighter to spend my time on. :)
I ain't broke but I'm badly bent.
