what size to order for Bamboo shafts
« on: August 13, 2015, 12:32:15 am »
I was looking to buy some bamboo stakes to make arrow shafts.
The big question I have is: What size should I get?

I was looking here: http://bamboosupply.net/listman/exec/search.pl?search=1&lfield8_keyword=stakes/poles/edging&template=stakespoles.htm
and the smallest diameter they sell is 3/8 inch. Should I get that in 3 foot or 4 foot length (or longer)?

Would it be better to call them and see if they have some in a smaller diameter?

If there are other supplier I would be interested in that as well.
Thanks for the help.

Get 4' x 8-10 mm. Tell them they are for arrows and they will pick out a good bundle.

Have you guys ordered from here before?

Wondering on the quality.

That's a lot of stock.

I've bought around eight bundles from them over the past few years. I've only had one bundle that some of the boo had bug damage. The place is less then 15 minutes from my house.

It is a lot better. When you ask for 8-10 mm, pretty much what we need, they are pretty consistant. Ask DanzinBar, he has made some art work quality arrows from them. But tell them you want them for arrows not tomato stakes. I've educated the owners on what we want.
