Sinewed Osage with Walleye Skin
« on: December 01, 2015, 05:56:32 pm »
Hello again,

you gave me the courage to show you another bow I yesterday finished.

It is an osage recurve from a thin and knotty osagestick., which has an enormous restoring force (is it correct?)
She is 58" long, 56" ntn, 1,4" to 0,27" wide and pulls around 50# by 28".
3 layers of deer sinew and the skin of a Walleye on the back.
The nocks are built from an antler and my old jacket gave me the leather for the grip.

Not easy to describe for me, because ...

I hope, the pics do it better.

Greetings
Peter

Zander is a relative of walleye..

I know a good place to catch walleyes (Zander). When we had a lunch from it I shaped the skin to dry it.
My little daughter (19 Years) blamed me to do this.
When I showed the bow with shte skin on it she understood ...

Nice work. The skin looks great.
Zander is the European counterpart of the American Walleye.

Very cool! 8)   Love the looks of the braced and drawn profile, tips and skins are equally as nice. Excellent all around Peter.
