Loope, I don't think the spot will be a problem if that's over an inch thick right there and you plan on adding another piece over it. Unless there's something hidden that extends down to near the back.

Rich gave me good advice not long ago here about steaming out a side bend, though mine wasn't as hard a bend as that one. Look back a few pages.

EDIT: Wow, back further than I thought -- this thread moves fast! Here it is:

Thanks Timothy!

I'm also having a hard time deciding about a handle wrap. If it was for myself I would leave it unwrapped because I really like the way that looks better on this one, and the handle feels really good to me. But I also want to please the person I'm sending it to. I do have on hand a number of kinds of wraps. And I've tried them in the past. Leaving it unwrapped just seems kind of ordinary to send somebody for a trade bow compared to the handles I've seen other people do. But I guess I like to make simple stuff. So, well, opinions, please.

ps. this preference has nothing to do with what I will truly appreciate in a bow somebody else sends me. I like all styles of bow and handles because they are other people's work and I appreciate those differences.

I nice stitch leather handle wrap would be nice on that bow B.  Some lighter leather to contrast the dark stain.

imo ..... recipient is looking to receive bow that represents the style/look/feel of its maker.
... alone in distant woods or fields, in unpretending sproutlands or pastures tracked by rabbits, even in a bleak and, to most, cheerless day .... .  I suppose that this value, in my case, is equivalent to what others get by churchgoing & prayer.  Hank Thoreau, 1857

Mr. B,
Just one old guys opinion....so take with a grain of salt. All my bows (for myself) are made with no wrap at all. I hunt with mine and the weather up here is usually crappy so a plain bow with wax finish gives as good a grip as anything......It is personal preference of course, but I do not believe you are "shorting" your recipient by leaving it plain. Actually well made bows are just that....with or without lipstick 8) 8) 8)

Man ajooter, that is super cool bud! What a unique and original idea. Not I'm jealous I opted out of the trade this year.

Hammer,  it is OK to like how it's shooting. But there is pretty much a hinge in the upper limb that is doing about 85% of the work. Start scraping about 6 to 8 inches from the fade to about 6 inches from the tips. It won't take much to bring it around.

Ajooter, that looks great!

Thanks for the handle wrap opinions, guys.

Hammer, I think you need to work on that bow more -- only saying because you asked.
