Yeah bud, looks like a hinge might be startin on that left limb. Just what i can see from here.

When I first looked at it I thought the same thing....but then I studied a little closer and those dang shadows and different colors in the background might be messing with what I see.   :-\ :-\
Enjoy the hunt!  Mitch

I tend to use a gizmo a lot, but that right mid limb looks a little stiff to me still. Others have better eyes, I am sure.

My thoughts exactly Jeff.  The left limb looks perfect.  Proceed carefully.

I'd be far more infuriated with my lack of progress on the bow, except last weekend instead of chasing rings I was teaching a kid how to shoot a bow for the first time, and it was a bow that Half Eye made.  So time well spent, especially since his parents told me that all he talked about when he got home was shooting!

I just got asked to build a bow for a benefit auction for a man that has been diagnosed with cancer. It is to benefit a fellow that was a good friend of my stepsons before my stepson passed. It needs to be finished by April 30th so I will be spending most of my free time on it for a while instead of my trade bow. My plan a is done exept for lipstick anyway so I should be fine. I will keep on checking in on here but probably wont show much progress for a while.

Sure. I will probably start a new thread so I dont clutter this one up. I chased a ring on an osage stave today and after roughing out a bow I ran into a couple checks I didnt know were in it. It will still make a bow but is gonna need a couple sinew wraps for safety so It won't be going to auction. Will try to get a better stave dug out tomorrow afternoon and start over.

I spent some time chasing a yew ring today.  It is slow going, especially since I had to prune an apple tree and go to a wedding too.  At least I got some new shoots from the apple tree that may make some arrows later.

I goofed :(  I thought my 6 inch caul would be too much reflex, so I decided to build a new one with 3 inch reflex.  Besides, the curves in the red bud were too wide.  I bought some boards, traced out a 3 inch reflex, and screwed together three boards to make it wide enough.

I started clamping and cracked the limb badly at one of the woop-de-doos. I didn't think I tightened it that much, I've used more force while clamping osage, but the pictures tell that I goofed.  I guess it is on to the plan B dogwood  :(  Tell me if I am wrong, but I no longer see a bow in this red bud.

Loope IDK looks pretty bad might be able to super glue it and clamp it together to see.

Loope, with all the flexing that needs to take place in that limb, I'm not sure how you could ever trust that section again.  Maybe someone else has a magic fix.

Dang Loope........ I was really wanting to see that one bending. If it was mine I would probably glue and clamp that back up just to see if it would hold. But probably wouldnt trust it enough to give it away if it did.
