Must be, DuBois, we've had an inch of rain in the last 24 hrs, and the spring is flowing well again! :)
I love it when a plan B comes together....

Hi Guys,
apologies for being away for so long, life got complicated for a while........

Just a swift update on the two bows I am working on for the trade, the one on the right is coming together very quickly now, the one on the left is about half way roughed out..  Any comments on the knotty problem in the second picture? The black lines are pencil marks, so please ignore them.  Thought I'd cut the knots out and plug them, but would epoxy and sawdust be a better fix?

The ones well inside the limb shouldnt be a problem...the one on the edge on the other hand could be a problem as u continue tillering.

Filling with epoxy or sawdust and glue is a viable option.

Lookin at that picture a little closer it seems your getting some separation in growth rings.  What kind of wood is the one you had ?s about the knots?

It's holly (ilex), not sure which type - wild, not cultivated, tall with straight trunk not densely branched with nodules on the bark.

checking in real quick, I'm finishing up my trade bow now, got it tillered out to target drawlength and weight, and now I'm decorating.  I will try to get some teaser pictures up this evening of my ## inch Sinew backed Osage bow with recorved tips that draws @@# at ^^ inches for Mr. !@#$%^$#$%.  >:D O:)

I had a specific inspiration for the bows decorations, you guys will know it when you see it.  When I post pics, I'd like to get some feedback for names, and if my intended victim weighs in, then that will be what the bow is named.

Teaser pics.  If you haven't got a bow already, throw out some names for it.  If it's your bow, then your name will stick.

Sweet! I love it! I can't wait to shoot it ;) ok my first thought on a name was "rich girl", cause she's got diamonds on the soles of her shoes. That's a great song.

Does it have any string nocks. I can't see them.
I found many years ago that it is much easier and more rewarding working with those that don't know anything than those that know it all.

Not yet, got to glue one overlay on, then redo the nocks.  I shot it already with temporary nocks, but wanted to thin the tips and put antler overlays on there.  Ran out of time between chores, we are super busy with kids and house stuff this time of year.
