BBO fumed (No. 80)
« on: May 19, 2016, 01:27:30 pm »
flipped tips
heavily trapped (45°)profile
extreme skinny tips, cow horn on tips and arrow pass
hadn't much wood to play with – had to follow the grain of the osage, so got some character
ratio boo/osage = 50/50
incredible low mass of only 345 g (12 oz),

57” ntn
48#/27”

some pics before fuming …

after a gentle fuming …

If those tips got any thinner they wouldn't even cast a shadow. Good stuff!!!

I was surprised to see the boo took some color from the fuming as well. I wouldn't have expected that.

Beautifully done, Simon!  57" with a rigid handle is pretty amazing, too.

Grüß aus  Mannheim.
I'm only curiose with one thing..i always had bad luck with the Bamboo nodes, when worked themm the way you did. Is it possibile to be just the Bamboo quality, or just bad luck..alot of people leave the nodes untouched, and thenn we have also people that just peal the skinn of..is there a special tehnique to do this, or is it just luck?
