bacon grease

<< < (3/3)

El Destructo:
make sure that you strain the Bacon grease through a Coffee Filter....let it sit....and don't use the Fat...use the white lard....or you could always just buy you some pasteurized Lard from the Supermarket...it wont go rancid

huntertrapper:
well, i smelled them after a couple hours, my arrows, and they dont smell like it any more. they surely are water proof. but they dont smell like bacon anymorre. but boy does it smell good when first put on. :) ad thats funny hawkbow, i had thought about some big black boar bear come waddlin to me while im sittin with a bacon covered arrow on my bow. ;D

michbowguy:
what yankee said,lard is cheap.

but if you keep rendering and straining and cooling in the fridge you will end up with non smelly "white gold"

use it all the time for bows, arras, darts ,leather.
great stuff
mbg

huntertrapper:
yeah it makes the water that lands on my arrows and bow bead instead of just soaking in.
