<< < (2/3) > >>

Sparrow:
Porcupines love to chew anything thats got even a hint of bacon grease on it (Bears too !) Frank

huntertrapper:
good i might be goning bear huntin next year so maybe itll atract them. you guys thinks it might scare the deer away? and dustybaer good question, does it get bad after a while?

hawkbow:
My brother once used bacon grease on his boots and didn't tell me what he had done... we were hunting elk on tghe north fork of the shoshoni river...(grizzly bears everywhere that time of year.eating on pine nuts.) we had bears following us everywhere we went.. and coming into camp at night.. all because of those darn boots... so my figuring is if a bear can smell it then so can a deer, elk etc.. Mike a/ho

Justin Snyder:
I know a deer can smell them, but I don't think it will make a big difference.  The thing you need to remember is that people camp and cook bacon all the time so it isn't exactly out of the ordinary for the smell of bacon to be lofting through the trees.  Justin

hawkbow:
I agree Justin, the best bet is to keep the wind in your face.. then it doesn't matter what you smell like ... Mike a/ho
