HHB flatbow
« on: January 08, 2017, 07:21:36 pm »
This one was a learner for sure. I was initially going for a longer bow but I ended up with way less draw weight than I hoped for. So I shortened it, retillered, and refinished. I'm pretty happy with it now.

Love your finish work buddy!  What is the brace height on the bow?  It looks really low.  Using your fist with a thumb up to set your brace height should get you a smoother shooting bow as well as the draw weight your looking for.  Do you get any wrist slap with that bow?  Your bend is looking much better but I think you could still get your outers moving a little more.

Thanks man. It's definitely braced low. That's cause' all I had on hand to string it was some parachute cord, which gives a ton with that weight on it. Going to pick up a dacron string for her tomorrow. I usually brace at 5 or 6 inches.

Thanks to all for looking :)

With as many bows as you've been making you need to learn how to twist up a good bow string.
