New Bow for my Boy
« on: July 22, 2017, 12:27:54 am »
My eight year old son, Ronan has been shooting the same little ocean spray stick since he was three. He's turning into a pretty good shot and it's past time that he has a worthy bow. This stave was a belly split off of a larger stave and it was just right for this project. I spruced it up a bit with some sturgeon skin scraps I had laying around and gave it a Strunk wrap as well. The bow is 52" ntn and pulls about 22#@22". He's got some room to grow into the bow and I hope he can shoot it for a few years before he has to pass it off to his sister. He's more excited about it than his face lets on in the photos. He's going through a stoic photo phase. It's a real joy to see my children enjoying archery. I hope it lasts.

Caught you smiling!

Nice bow!  His buddies will flip! Too when he tells them "dad made it for me"!  Little Sister just may want you to make her one of her own, though, personalized!  Good looking lad, hope he stays with it

Very sweet bow Weylin. He looks a lot happier when his bow is braced and shooting the moon at full draw. That one should last for his kids, you'll want to make another for your daughter I'm sure. It is really great to see kids into archery especially Primitive Archery.

Thanks a lot, guys. It's nice to take a little break from making bows for other folks and make a couple for those that are closest to you. It's very heart warming to see my kiddos enjoying archery.

Bjrogg, you must not have seen my last post.  ;D I just finished a bow for my two year old girl so she's got something to shoot for now.

Impressive, Weylin.  Your kids are lucky for more than a few reasons.  And your bows are pro-level.  Good for you for making all these things happen in your life and so early in your life.  Takes some character.
