Atlantic cod skin backed hickory recurve
« on: September 30, 2017, 08:00:48 pm »
Here is my latest self bow, it is a hickory recurve that pulls 55 pounds at 28 inches and is 63 inches from knock to knock. I finished it a few weeks ago and just sent it out to my victim in the Fred Arnold bow exchange and I’m pretty happy with it. It shoots true and with some good force behind it. I wanted to use all New England native materials so it would represent the area I’m from so I have white tail deer antler for the tip overlays and arrow rest and an Atlantic  cod skin backing. I finished it with Tru oil and a jute rope handle. Thus bow is from a tree I harvested and seasoned about 3 years ago and I love the tight grain and straight staves the tree yielded, its the 6th bow I’ve made from the tree and I’ve loved them all.

I'll add pictures in a second once I figure out Imgur

That is pretty sweet greenriver! If it's coming this way I am gonna be stoked. Extra cool cause I am from nova Scotia so can relate with the east coast theme. Great job man! Cheers- Brendan

That tiller is absolutely spot on brother.  (-S Someone's gonna be very pleased indeed!

I followed your build on instagram, really nice to see it all finished up for shipping! I love the all local materials attitude, I try to do that as well with most of my self bows

This bow is one beautiful killer beast!!
I know cause it's mine and I love it.
Just got it out this morning since the wife had put in the garage and I didn't know and worked 12 hour shifts the last 2 days.
Thanks so much Bob,
Marco

glad to hear you like it Marco!  I was getting worried that it was stolen or worse you received it and were disappointed.  Thanks for the kind words and hopefully it will someday bring meat to your table.
