I will make a template to start with usually, on these I just drew them out on the steel with some soapstone, they aren't too fancy. If I was going to forge the shape of the knife I would just cut an angle for the tip to reduce the hammer work and cut to tang out, I have bad wrists and try and save as much hammer work as I can
