unexpected gift I received at marshall
« on: June 01, 2018, 08:22:53 pm »
At Marshall this year Ryan R walked up to me and told me to check out this bow. Right away I saw my name on it! Ask me why but I can't figure out how it is I never leave Marshall without a new bow that's a gift. This bow is an Elm bow. didn't measure it but it's about 66 in Long and about 45 Plus at 26 in. Osage overlays and a cool Buckskin grip. Extremely light in the hand and flings and arrow quite well. I've come to believe making a bow out of elm is a lot harder then making a bow out of Osage. Every year at Elm Hall we donate Elm bows and I can't say I look forward to working with it.

Ryan won one of the elm bows I donated last year and felt the need to make me one. I can't thank you enough Ryan! I have quite the collection of bows from a lot of great individuals and will cherish them for a long time. Look forward to shooting a round with you at Elm Hall with it. Thanks for looking

Looks like a classic.  That finish work is very cool, too.  It does seem funny there aren't more Elm bows.

Paul, you must have good Karma, I couldn't believe it when you sent me a nice bow. Congratulations!

If you have to pull the trigger, is it really archery?

Now that is a sweet bend.  (-S

A very nice bow!  I like the "medicine beads" and buckskin grip.  Will probably use elk and some medicine beads on my hickory when I get that far.!  A gift like that speaks to your character, I hope to meet you someday!

HE'S A CHARACTER, that's for sure.

There's a bunch of characters at Marshall and I miss them all already. Very nice bow Ryan.

PS I've managed to bring home new bows from Marshall the past two years also. If I can get out of my tractor long enough to get some pictures I promise I'll post the sweet Osage bow Cody donated to the auction.

Gorgeous bow. Ryan knows how to make a good bow, he has been at it for a lot longer than most of us.
