I'm trying to figure out how you would create that recessed port in a straight line with the ramrod channel. Just a chisel?

I use a drill on a 3' rod for the hole in the forearm and use a chisel for the grove at first then I use a rat tail file to even it out then a piece of sand paper wrapped around a 6'' piece of ramrod to finish it up.

Worked on my least favorite things, but got it in good. I didn't feel like inletting the lock today so I got the entry thimble out of the way.

Took a month off from this rifle to build some custom order bows. Got back on it today and got the lock plate inlet. Will start on the guts of the lock later.
