First Osage bow (more pics)
« on: July 24, 2018, 02:33:02 pm »
Here is my first Osage flatbow, re-worked. I spent many hours on it last fall at our annual Cumberland Woodbow gathering, learning all about Osage from Goat. It tillered well but was a bit heavier than I needed(over 60) and tooth rattling hand shock! Fast forward to a couple weeks ago where I sat in on a bow workshop with Goat, I reduced the tips and the weight, now a more managable 56@28. The bow is 68” tip to tip. Nothing special about it, just really happy with it, and I love the wood. Osage is amazing! So much yew around and I have a bit of a crush on the yellow wood! Thanks for looking.

Sweet! I'm sure it's hard to go wrong with some natural talent and a teacher like Goat.  :OK

It's a nice bow I seen it last week while stumping with Blayne and his little one. I can't wait til the end of September. Goats bringing a short clean stave for me to work. I will actually make a bow this time instead of standing around slack-jawed. (It was cool to hang around like minded people). Nice one Blayne. Cheers- Brendan

Way to see it through. Goat is a great guy and great teacher.
