Blitz rock/obsidian cook
Zuma:
It's damp and chilly today so I thought I would warm up the kitchen.
I piled a bunch of jasper, Mexican Green obsidian, Flint River, and a chunk
of Coastal Plains into the pans with sand and will ramp up fast in oven to 500f.
About 5 hrs or so then slowly drop temp to 320f then shut off to cool. (=) (=)

Obsidian?
bjrogg:
Jeb I wondered about that to, but I remember Zuma saying he had some poorer quality green Obsidian that he could improve by cooking it.
It's a bit on the cool side here to Zuma. Was to a outside Birthday party last night and the long sleeves and jacket really wasn't enough. Just a few days earlier it was almost 90 with unbearable humidity. I don't mind looking for another jacket.

JEB:
If that is the case then I wonder how it turns out BJ as I have some black obsidian that is crap.

Steve Nissley turned me on to it. I had an 80# spall I bought at the Ridge in 2015.
It was dried out and horrible to knap. I have cooked it several times and there was
marked improvement. Works on dried out Dacite also, I have a couple threads about it.
Bj I crutched down to the local picknick in a hoody and jacket yesterday afternoon brrrr
