Hickory flight bow, 47# @ 28"

Shagbark hickory, 68" NtN, 47# @28", elongated pyramid profile -1 3/4" wide out of the fades tapering down to 1/4" nocks. Flipped tips and Z handle  - for closer to center shot.  I left some of the cambium layer for a natural camo effect.  Cow horn overlays and strike plate, brain tan leather grip. Finished with 10 coats of Tru Oil.  8 strand Fast flight string.  I also heat treated the belly and this bow took very little set during tillering, maybe 1/2"

I shot this bow at the Mojam broadhead flight shoot this last July and although this was my first attempt at flight shooting, I was very pleased with the results.   210 yds was my best with a 470 grain arrow (10 gpp).

Saw this bow in person at MoJam, the pictures doesn't do it justice.  Beautiful bow and great performance.

Super nice and clean work Aaron, also loike the leather handle - looks beautiful.
The results you got are top notch. Would like to test out the Hick qualities some day, we have only some trees in parks - not in nature.

Top notch made bow there.Nicely configured handle too.Old hickory likes that heat in many different ways!!!!I saw it at Mo Jam too.

I'm glad you posted this one Aaron.  I would have lost money if someone wanted to bet me that a hickory selfbow would perform like that in Missouri in July.  You did an outstanding job on it.  I have been saving a nice old hickory stave that might like that design.  :)   :OK

Beautiful bow! I think it would shoot flight arrows much better. I took one like that to Wendover for the broadhear shoot. 60" long with sharp recurves. 5.5" of reflex and those tiny tips. Another bow with more overbuilt tips and only 3" of reflex outshot it in the broadhead class even though the dryfire speed was much faster in the first bow. Both weight about the same and had the same draw.
