Osage recurve 43/27”for JH (No. 106)
« on: March 24, 2019, 03:18:18 am »
The stave was a nice clean piece of osage.
Recurves are steamed in, corrections are done with the heat gun. Overlays are a combo of black buffalo and mammoth, arrow pass is buffalo.
The handle is osage/hickory/osage combo with stingray wrap.

An amazing bow as usual Simson. One day, id love to own a bow made by you. You are one of my favorites when it comes to art and style,  and your bows are darn quick too. Love seeing your stuff.

When you see Simson post something, you immediately know it's gonna be good.

But

24”:   37,9   (+3,3)

I still got no clue what these numbers mean.

Dirst column is how far in inches its pulled back, second is what the draw weight is at that draw length, 3rd is how many pounds were gained in that distance from the last.

It shows you the performance of the bow. Like looking at the stats on an engine, displacement, bore, stroke, hp, and torque.

You want the 3rd column to start off large then finish small. This is textbook for what a perfect force draw chart should lopk like.

Awake for one hour and already learning thanks to the data and Sleek's explanation.  Awesome day!
Great looking handle, and overall bow.  I may use that type of fade for a build for a friend.

Amazing Simon, your finishing(which actually starts at the beginning) is just incredible.

Beautiful as usual Simson. Looks like you have that reflex and recurves working just a little. Love the full draw. Cool how you got those swans to pose for you to

Awesome bow.  Tiller, shape, finish, top notch as usual.

So no wrist slap or vibration with the 4.5" brace?

Thanks folks, you're too kind!

sleek: thank you buddy for the clarification of my numbers!
bjrogg: yep, the recurves do a little work - you're right. My wife did the fd pics and managed the swans for posing, I had no clue about the background
simk: cheers neighbour!
Bayou Ben: no, 4˝ is enough

The bow goes out on coming weekend, hope the new owner will be satisfied
