Tomahawk

Russ:
OHHH! I want to make one

DC:
It looks real nice. How do tomahawks work as an axe? The blade looks a little long for chopping, but what do I know. Is it heavy enough for roughing out a bow?

Hawkdancer:
DC,
You might want to practice on some scraps first!  If it is sharp enough and you can control it, rough out should work!  I don't think it would be too good for fancy finish work, though >:D >:D (lol)!

IMO a hawk is a weapon first and tool second.  They don't generally chop wood as well as an axe or even a good hatchet.  But then again they don't weigh as much either, making them faster in single combat than an axe and greater reach than a hatchet.  So you get a weapon, that can also multi task, even if it doesn't do it as well as a dedicated chopping tool.

Good job Bubby, that hawk looks great.
