So I just finished bow number 3 (first full size bow). It’s an all hickory longbow. Leather handle wrap. Buffalo horn tip overlays. 68 ttt, 66 ntn. 1.75 inches at the fades straight to 18 inches from the tip beginning a steady taper to 0.5 inch tips. Draws 50lbs at 28 inches. The board I was using was sapwood on the back and heartwood on the belly (with a little heartwood breaking through on the belly of the bottom limb tip. I laminated a heartwood riser on. Finished with 6 coats of tru oil. Wet sanded with 1500 grit paper and buffed with olive oil/bon ami mix (thanks Weylin). It has taken about an inch of total set after two shooting sessions. I’m incredibly happy with how it turned out. It certainly shoots better than I do with no hand shock. But the best part is that I see a couple of flaws, I know how they got there, and what I need to do next time to prevent those same flaws. So I feel like it’s a success. Thanks for looking.

Like what I said on Facebook, you weren't kidding with this piece of wood, brother.

Any flaws or errors on this bow are probably pretty minor, but if they serve as lessons for making the next one better, well, another win for you!
