Osage fumed ELB 40/28“(No. 119)
« on: November 17, 2020, 12:26:46 am »
Nothing much to say, she is a low weight English Longbow (for a Lady?).
The stave was a split off from a regular, fumed for 5 days.
Only little heat corrections were necessary.
Tip are very narrow, tough overlay and arrow pass inlay is green dyed stabilized maple.
Handle is hemp cord (with green earth pigments rubbed in to match overlays) over leather patches to thicken up.
Only minimal set, about ½“.

And a Lucky Lady she is Simson. That fumed Osage looks like it’s been in the sun for years. Beautiful and love the slim tips.

Thanks for sharing. Hope your health is good my friend.

so pretty.. really amazing, well done Simson.... what exactly is fuming? I've heard of it several times.... but I don't actually know what it is, or how it is done...
