Started on some knives
osage outlaw:
I started grinding the bevels in the small blade.
It was going good until the drive pulley on the sander started to crumble apart. It's the second pulley that has fell apart. It's a pretty old sander that I picked up a couple weeks ago for $20
Luckily I had an old motor on a shelf that had a similar sized pulley. I had to move the motor and remove some guides to make it work.
I was able to finish roughing in the bevels on one knife.
KHalverson:
beautiful grinds.
could you please show us your jig?
osage outlaw:
It's just a piece of aluminum angle that I clamp the blade to. You can see it in the first picture. I tilted the tool rest. I took a guess at the angle and was pretty happy with the results. The billets are a little thick. That angle removed a lot of weight. I use a small guide for the plunge grind.
