I don't know, I have taken some real trophies this year with a flintlock rifle both here in the US as well as South Africa. Seems a few get mad when I write about using a flintlock in The Primitive Archer Magazine. I love both hunting with a sinew backed or selfbow as much as a flintlock and really don't care which one I use. But in some cases its better for me as well as the animal that I am after to use the flintlock. And truth be told the ones that are voicing all the disapproval don't kill anything with any weapon and if they do its some of what I call barn yard critters, I hunt WILD animals and WILD places all over the world! If enough people want stories on my flintlock adventures I will be glad to write them. I am in the Primitive Archery business and not Flintlocks, they are fun to me, in fact as I get older and my shoulders are giving out I will use them more in the future. Not to mention I get as much reward out of building the rifles as I do the bows!

Well said, Mike!

I've never really understood the point of having flintlock stuff in PA magazine, but I still kind of enjoy reading about it now and then, and I'd love to hear more about Mike's lion. Might even take up smokepoles myself someday. The whole point is to have fun, challenge ourselves, and hopefully put some meat on the table, whatever the weapon of choice.
Russ:
I used to be against flintlocks in the magazine but now i honestly really enjoy them! i know they are not bows, but they are pretty cool! good job on the hunt!
