Some advice on straightening yew stave please

(1/4) > >>

Ruddy Darter:
Hi all,
Would I be ok straightening on this knot ( and fill any gap that may occur?) I'm not sure how it will behave, I'll be bending away from  it, its 4 or 5 inches up from mid bow ( so a comparitvely static area) and will be 35mm X 32mm dimensions when I come to steaming it straight for a warbow/elb, . Or would it be advisable to steam an area a little north of the knot and have a kink a little up from the hand grip. Thanks for any advice,  I haven't had to deal with this before.
(I'll lose it on the back but some will remain on belly and side)

Hamish:
Steam bending a knotted area can be tricky, it can crack if you force it.

I would get the bow floor tillered( a relative term when dealing with warbows) before thinking about doing the correction.

Yes, use steam.

George Tsoukalas:
Why? If you clamp a string tip to tip does it fall on what would be the handle?
