I have had an itch to try out this mysterious yew wood that grows absolutely nowhere close to me, so after some searching came across a set of billets that I was able to buy.  It's outrageous what it cost for a full length stave and this was in my budget so I pulled the trigger.  This was a first as well in pulling off a z splice.  Thanks to Weylin, I also decided I would back this one with some sturgeon skins.  His work is an inspiration and the skins were intended for an osage bow I had going, but decided this one was a better fit.  Overall, I like how it turned out and it is a fast bow.  Yew is a dream to work compared to osage but I did have to baby it a bit more so as not to leave dents and dings in the wood.

It's 66" ntn and came out to 55lbs at 28".  Ipe tip overlays and beaver tail grip.  Enjoy.  Hopefully pics come out ok after compressing.

Nice full draw.

That one looks like it really fits yew.

Gotta get me some sturgeon skins someday.

Thank you! I really like these sturgeon skins.  It was a little difficult lining up the scutes and they aren't perfect but sometimes imperfection is perfect.

Whatever yew do don’t put it on the ground or it will start growing!

Love it. Very nicely crafted.  I love the handle on this.  Looks like beaver tail???  The skins are nice too for a nice touch.  Nice tiller man.  All round great job.

Yes, it's beaver tail.  First time using it too and the texture of it makes for a great grip.

Well, I will add another first here and say I got my first stickbow deer since switching from a compound 3 years ago.  Thanks to this forum and all of those that have shared, I got it done this weekend.  This bow came through for me and I'm all smiles.
