Card scraper sharpener
« on: April 10, 2023, 12:49:31 am »
Thought I would share this recent find. FLNTKNP17 turned me on to the Accu-Burr card scraper sharpener. Unquestionably the best special purpose tool I own. You can get a razor bevel on your scrapers in only a few seconds. And it has 3 different bevels. Pricey little guy but money well spent as I can finally get an edge on my gooseneck scraper. If you’re frustrated with sharpening card scrapers then give it a try. And no I don’t own stock in it  (lol)

Yes I may have to try one of those.  I’ve been using old end mills and carbid drill bits but this would be nice.
Sticks and stones and other poky stabby things.

I bought a commercial burnisher a few years ago and found it is worth the money as well.

That looks like a nice little tool. I found it on Lee Valley Tools, and will probably get one.

The difference is that this has groves that you place over the edge and run it back and forth on and the bevel is the same so long as you keep it level. I’ve also found that you only need to use this and don’t need to flatten the edge first like you normally would.
