Northern Pike Fillet Knife
bjrogg:
Funny thing. When we catch the small ones we always called the hammer handles.

And now I can say they make a great knife handle!

My brother in N Dakota took us on a northern fishing trip into Canada a few years back. I caught a 19 pounder using a red and white spoon.

Love going fishing for pike in Canada.
A bunch of us use to go every year until the place we went closed.
One year one of them caught a “hammer handle “ and while he was reeling it in 42” pike attacked it. He fought hard and reeled them both in. We netted them and the 42” pike wasn’t even hooked. It just wasn’t going to let go of the little one. Pretty crazy.
I sure do miss going there.

I wonder how many red and white DareDevle knock-off lures I bought, used, and lost as a kid in North Dakota Lord knows I couldn't afford the genuine articles!
