New bow for CO.
« on: July 13, 2025, 08:31:19 pm »
I always try and build at least 1 bow for my son and my trip out west, just finished this one. Osage/62 N-N 52@26, hemp wrap grip, deer antler overlays/D97 12 strand string and copper head skins, I blacked the back so the skins came out darker , but I really like the color. Finished with 7 coats of tru oil buffer between coats and a couple coats of polly to cut the shine, and some Tennessee orange beads for luck. ;) :) The name is where we are going. :) Hope you like it. :) Had a lot of wrinkles in the limbs that I couldn't get out so a challenge to tiller, that's why it is important to look at both side when tillering a bow with character as most of mine are.  :) Here is a few pictures.  :)

Arrows for tuning and brace and full draw. :) now for a shot at and Elk or bear, it really shoots sweet and very smooth to draw, quite also.  :)

Love everything about it...except the weight.  You are still a stout old coot.  :)  That should be more than enough to bring down anything you get a shot at.  Have fun and thanks for sharing the tale.   :OK
Seems like common sense isn't very common any more...

Looks good Pappy. Hard to beat osage for a hunting bow. Can't wait to see what game you guys get with your bows.

And I can tell you guys, all Pappy needs is a chance. He'll take care of the rest.  :OK

Ya it’s hard to beat a good Osage bow.  Looks great and love skins!   Should work very well for hunting!

From the photos I can see the bow looks like another GOOD one. Love the copperhead skins over the dark stain. Hope you get a shot at an elk or bear. I know you’ll have a great time regardless.
I’ve tried to download all the photos but so far only about 1/2 are visible to me.
