Hello All ,
I understand what a riser is for on say an american flat bow , how a riser is made with the fades etc but in all reality could you make a flat bow using a riser of around a finished height from the belly of the bow of 4/8" then pad the back of the bow (handle area )with cork or leather , then wrap the handle with jute twine or leather ? what Im trying to say is making a shallow thickness riser or alternatively would it be better to just carve / rough the stave down leaving a thicker handle area which could then be shaped ? Hope Ive explained this properly .
