Camera and video recorder. No way you can ever remember what all you saw if you don't get pictures to look at later.
If staying any length of time, all the ice you can bring to keep your drinks and food cold.
And from what I have heard, but not witnessed yet thank goodness, a good rain jacket and rubber boot.
Flash light an batteries. The bottom can get pretty dark between 4 in the morning and 6 am.

'Swipe. (toilet paper) just in case the porta-jons get heavily used. :-[

-
I thought about that a little while ago Matt.......And one thing that is a must for all and plenty of it....TICK REPELANT AND SPRAY OF ANY KIND.
-

-
Great minds think alike,,,,MATT AND STEVE :o
-
the flashlight is a good idea.it is a long dark walk back to camp.i allways try to bring a item to donate to the raffle.Pappy and the boys work real hard so we all have a good time.it is good to help them out if you can.
-
Boat canoe or some sort of floatation device :o ;D
Spikes to drive in the ground to secure all your goods when the flash flood comes through, LOL
-
I was not there then, but I was going to post up some thing to the effect Keenan, of anchoring you cast iron pots and pans to keep them from being washed away...so I heard.
-
Bring some staves and tools. Some of the best bowyers in the country will be there. Why not get some free advice and help while you are there.
-
If staying any length of time, all the ice you can bring to keep your drinks and food cold.
Twin Oaks purchased a new ice making machine so we should be able to handle all your ice needs. :D
-
Abo kit for flint knapping at the sprit station
Bloodroot to trade cracker for stave if he makes it out of camper
Iowa crap rock for Will to knap
Extra points to give to Pat B for helping my son (the older one) make a bow (or others)
-
And just for the record, if you are driving a long way, don't forget you sleeping pillow. Don't ask me how I know. But thanks Pappy ;) :D :D
-
Bring a friend...
-
The two main things you should bring to the Classic are your sense of generostiy and your sense of community. Even though you'll find a lot of both at the Classic you can never have too much. ;)
-
And a sense of humor. ;) ;D ;D I think I got everything I need. :o ;D ;D But patients, Hard waiting for this,it is like a big family reunion for me[only better]. :)
Pappy
-
Good stuff guys.....the only thing that sucks about the classic is the waiting for it ....wait a minute..maybe I'm wrong because we all have a lot of good laughs, jokes, and times here on the forum waiting in anticipation ;)
Jeeeeez...only 3 months n a couple weeks to go :)

-

Jdub, you need to bring your butt on down. And leave the rubber boots at home, you'll be in the South. Take your shoes off, and squiggle your little 'ol bare toes on down in the poop. ;D
-
Tys is the year that hopefully I get to make it down there. I might borrow my a truckbed camper instead of my pop up so I can pull my trailer and unload some of my "extra" wood. I hope it all works out this year. I've been trying to make it the last three years, but work never allows it. I think ill just quit this hear if they try and stop me.
-
This does sound like fun! Now the only question is...how do you know who everybody is? Stupid screen names!
-
You pick up on the screen names. That's half of the fun!
-
i know what you mean Oscar.last year i missed out talking to some really great people because i didn't know they were there.i probably talked to them but didn't know who they were.
-

Fine Aged Tequila and Cigars?
:)
-gus
-
Now you're talking Gus! ;) Although that home made "tequilla" at the Classic is just as effective, ;) Sitting around the fire in the evening with a drink in one hand and a good cigar in the other can hardly be beat. 8)
-
Ive never smoked a GOOD cigar, might have to try one with you Pat.
-
Make sure to bring plenty of those glow in the flashlight beam trail tacks, so these guys that sit by the fire, with a good cigar and drink in their hands, can find their way back to their tents. :o ::)
-

Yes Sir Pat I hear ya...
Tennessee has some of the Finest "Brown Water" on the Planet, I would not pass up an opportunity to sample a Local Vintage.
Have a Cask of Tequila that should be ready to bottle the end of April.
I'm planning on bringing a bottle or two and a box of Cigars to share... 8)
-gus
-
Pearlie, I'll bring you one to try out.
Gus, I think I'll be hanging with you...at least in the evenings! ;D
-
Ive never smoked a GOOD cigar, might have to try one with you Pat.
Yeah, me neither. I'm guessing Swisher Sweets and Black and Milds don't count :P
-
Thanks Pat! Im sure I will have something with me to return the favor. Maybe some of dads ol' German "apple juice". I dont think its a southern delight like it is up here.
Clintster those lungers will kill a guy! I have puffed on my share of those cheapys.
-
Those are the only ones I have ever had. I get a hankerin' about once or twice a year and I'll get a pack.
-
Gus, I've been known to bring a few good cigars up, too. I only live a few miles from Ybor City.
-
nothing like a good cuban.i partake once in a while.
-
Swisher Sweets and the like qualify as "Dog Rockets"... :)
Yes Sir Mullet, I can see that you are Much closer to the Cigar Captial of the World.
Are you familiar with the "Cigar Dave Show"?
I've gotten stuck on the Oliva "V" series, Nicaraguan grown Cuban Seed...
They are not quite Maduro but they are close. :)
And you're sposed to Puff em, not inhale them... 8)
Some of that "Apple Juice" is Purty Goot Stuff P.D...
-gus
-
Clint, I'll see if I can find you a good cigar for the classic. When I was smoking them regular I bought Philly Black Titans. They are not too bad for a regular ole cegar. I only smok on special occasions now so I don't mind putting a bit more out for a good un.
-
This does sound like fun! Now the only question is...how do you know who everybody is? Stupid screen names!
Nobody will figure out my real name!
-

Thanks Pat. I appreciate it. I might take time to relax around the fire and enjoy it.
-
Oh, come on Clint. There's no time to relax around the fire. We need to see if we can build as many bows in one weekend as the BeaverHawk does. haha
-
I am new to all of this and was just wondering?
Could a guy just come look around for a day and
Watch and learn a little? Go home with a stave
ADR other tool and supplies? I would like to go
But I don't have what it would take to stay for
Days right now.
-
Lots of people just go for a day. You can stay as little or as long as you want. There will be a lot of vendors selling all kinds of stuff. There is also a lot of trading of goods and supplies. You can hang out in the bowshop or the knapping pit or shoot the 3D course, or shoot the bull ;D

I get the sense that there is both unlimited male cattle and ammunition a-plenty. Feel free to shoot several bulls while you are there.
-

Whoa, whoa, whoa, Clint! I've had some fine cigars that personally, I didn't really like all to much. Git me a Black & Mild and I'll join ya'll!
-
Don't smoke anymore but a good cigar ant bad once in a while. :) Especially at night sitting around the fire. :) Sounds like yall got about everything covered, don't forget Bows/arrows.We have a great course to shoot and that's a lot of fun to do when you can get a group together,I usually only get to do that early week but always enjoy it a lot, shooting and cutting up with my buds. Can't wait!!!!!!!
Pappy
-
After seeing all those beautiful bows and arrows around the cabin and in the shop Pappy, I though I might be in the "Rent-a-bow Heaven". Some awesome bows and arrows for sure.
-
Stuff you need to bring to the classic. For the benafit of our new friends.
I was hoping folks might bring something to trade for one on my knives!
-
anything in particular you're looking for.Ron
-
Matt, Ifn' I can remember, I'll bring you a pack of Black and Milds.
-
Do y'all think there will be any Hill Cane available for trade there at the Classic?
-gus
-
More than likely Gus. ;D I need to cut more soon.
-
Gus I got some awesome hill cane in a trade with Ol hippy last year.
-
Yeah Pat you better cut before the highway dept. gets to it.
-
Ronnie, the cane grows safely along my driveway. It is the sourwood shoots that I share with the NCDOT.
-
Really like trading at the Classic so bring some elk and deer horns, buffalo horn sheaths, leather projects etc. The other thing I enjoy is the raffle things. Sure some talented people that donate to the cause. Just my opinion, but it always amazes me about how much it costs to put the Classic on and wonder how they do it? The food and cooking must be very expensive! I try to think of something for Pappy and Miss Joanie and laugh as he especially is the most "gifted" fellow I know. Just look at his knife rack! If I make it this year am looking to trade for a Jon knife and a sheath made by my friend, GregB. I have something in mind to trade Will for a blade or two and hope to take home a bow made by Kennan. I have a large elk hide for Pappy knowing the last one turned into a major project! Also look forward to talking to Jimmy B. as he is one of my heros! A/Ho Joe Forgot to mention I will need a new small skinner from Shannon as I broke the one he gave me>
-
Hey Pat...don't forget them mountain laurel staves ;) .....ill prob be bringing osage, hackberry, and maybe a couple yew staves n who knows what else.
-
Chris, I've been looking around. Not many straight ones(relatively speaking) but I'm sure I can find a few for you. I'm sure we can work something out. ;)
-

-
Dang...
I can see I'm gonna have to pace myself when I get there...
Looks like an awesome opportunity to trade for goods that I don't often see around Houston. :)
Have to Bring some Buckskin and Elk leather and maybe some Kangaroo...
And I've got a Real Nice 6x Elk shed that I picked up a few years back, haven't had the heart to cut it up yet.
Dried Back Sinew, dried White Tail Toe Bones and leg bone, and some Horse Bone.
Snake Skins, of Various Southeast Texas species.
And some finished pieces of wood for sure, and maybe some leather.
And Man! I have to get to work on my Festival Mask!
May will be here before you know it... :)
-gus
-
I can bring a small tent if anyone needs one down there. I think it is 8' x 8'. There is a pic of it on page 25 of the What did you do today post. I'll make somebody a good deal on it. It kept me dry during the few showers we had last year.
-
Jon: If I get to come to the Classic, I have a wolf winter kill 6 point bull elk head. The horns are bleached white and there is still some hide attached to the skull. Sorry I don't know how to post pictures, but maybe could send a photo by email! Joe
-
Can't wait to see you this year Joe! Sure do hope you can make it. Wouldn't be the same without ya at the Classic.
Take care buddy.
-
Ya always love Joe's horn collection, have to keep an eye on the boys around the shop to keep um from sawing them up. ;) ;D to pretty to use,I just love them hanging around in the rafters and all the looks and oos and awas they get. :) Mouth watering and all. ;) :)
Pappy
-
Hey, where is Bear and his countdown this year???
-
Joe, I think Jon has a knife in mind that he made, and I made the sheath for it. Will be good to see you again!
-
Well, I'm gonna say tentatively that i should be seein y'all this year. I don't know if John and JW are gonna let me ride in the cab or make me sit in the back, but either way I should be strolling thru camp Friday morning. Been lookin forward to this trip for awhile, just hope this yankee can keep up with you TN hill folk!
Scott
-
glad to hear that you are gonna make it this year Scott.this is gonna be a great classic.
-
That's good news, looking forward to meeting a lot of new folks face to face. :)
You need to pace yourself, ;) ;D ;D it can get a bit overwhelming sometimes,to much to do and see and to many to talk to. I usually run on about a hour's sleep a day for the week and pretty worn down by Sunday night. :)
Pappy
-
Looking forward to seeing you again, Scott. Have a little more time to visit this go around.
-
Yes, Eddie, I should have at least 2 full days down there. Not enough, but better than nothing. Hope there's room around the pit for me to set my bucket. Gonna be fun times for shore!
Scott
-
From all the years I've been going to the Classic, I've compiled a list of necessities no person in attendance should be without. Some of these have already been mentioned I'm sure, but I feel a need to put a single list together for the benefit of any who have not attended a Classic.
bow & arrows
life jacket
asprin
That should cover it! ;)
-
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D thanks GregB I needed a good laugh this morning. :)
Pappy
-
that is a pretty good list, thanks Greg.
-
Hey, where is Bear and his countdown this year???
To much BS at work to start early this year.
-
Sorry to hear that. I hope it slows down by early May ;)
-

Mark we will make sure you go to bed early thru the first of the week.
-
Sorry to hear that. I hope it slows down by early May ;)
I'll be there My and Seabass will be there April 25 or 26. I would quit my job and get a new one before I missed the Classic. It is one of those things I will do until it or I don't happen anymore.
-
Bear and Seabass, if all goes well, I will see you there about the same time you guys get there.
-
Bear and Seabass, if all goes well, I will see you there about the same time you guys get there.
Good deal Charlie can't wait to see ya
-
Items needed for the Classic for me 9 cases of Miller Lite maybe more. >:D
-
just 9 cases Bear?
-
Yeah what Seabass said. What you going to drink after the first Sunday there?...lol...just funning
-
Miller Lite??!!!.... Im bringin Stag..... and Guinness, lol
-
I'll volunteer to be the designated bowyer for all you guys since I don't drink. When ya get a little tipsy just hand your staves over to me and I'll take good care of them ;)
-
I would suggest a small easy to carry beverage cooler. Last year I camped at the very end of the road. I would empty a beer and walk to camp for another. Well, by the time I got back to bow shed, I need another beer. It only took me 3 such trips to realize I had a small cooler with me. haha
-
i am going to not drink so much and work on some bows with some old friends and some new ones.a small cooler is a good idea, the walk to camp is a long one.
-
Ok I am going to do my best to make it there for my first time. I am just starting out with all of this and will have nothing to bring to trade so I was wondering can I purchase some staves to bring home with me. Along with other materials?
-
I'll be there for sure! Wouldn't miss it. I'll bring some good stogies to Pat. Look forward to meeting you DVS. Hope you get to make it Charlie. Looking forward to seeing old friends (Pat and Charlie) LOL and making new ones.
If I get time I'll be rounding up some trade material and I know I'll come home with more than I bring LOL
See you all there!
-
Scottski, you will be able to get staves there.
-
Plenty there to buy if you have no trade good Scottski. :)
Pappy
-
I watched Seabass start out one morning going back and forth to the cooler, and he was wearing shorts that morning. By days end, he had long pants on, because the shorts was dragging the ground as he walked.
-
I'm think I'm going to work less and socialize more. Ron
-
You do mean except for cooking don't ya Ronnie? ??? There was some good socializing around the deer fryer.
I'm not making any promises except to have fun.
At some point on Saturday after supper we, the PA members, need to get together for another group photo. I'm saying this now so folks might remember to be around then.
-

Charlie the poor guy was probly filling the cooler for me. Going to try not to take advantage of his kindness this year. thanks Steve

well the Stag was good but won't raid your cooler for that Guinness stuff.
-
Bear, that is about like trying to herd cats! ::)
-
Pat, just stand in the spot where you want everyone to gather for the picture and then start yelling "Free Osage" as loud as you can.
-
Yeah, and make sure the outlaw is standing beside you, cause every one knows he's got osage :o >:D
-
You know ill come a running from the bow shop with a yeller dust trail flying off from me
-
blackhawk, I am not sure about just yellow dust. I watched you last year, and every time I turned around you were on another piece of wood, because you had just finished another one...lol
-
Bear... Guinness dont need to be inda cooler, room temp is fine, lol. Great fer marinating steaks in to! ;D...... Brian
-
Bear,i'll go get you a beer any day brother.you been spieing on me Charlie?lol. PAt,i would like to be up front in the pic.me Eddie and Clint are to short to be in the back.
-
Hey Seabass, If you don't get to the front just stand on your cooler ;D Later Bob, Hoping on seeing everybody in May, Can't wait.
-
i'm real short Bob,may have to stack up a couple of coolers.
